In what is a working draft of the theoretical frameworkto my dissertation, in this paper I'll present anargument for why we ought to read women's literatureas a feminist speech act. I'll address a series ofquestions, such as what is a speech act, how can aliterary text become one, and what does readingwomen's literature this way give us as scholars offeminism, philosophy, and literature.
