Gender Studies Now: Queering Post/ Colonial Cinematic Archives
This workshop brings together editors and contributors of a groundbreaking transnational, multilingual, and interdisciplinary collaboration on excavating colonial cinematic archives. Taking the publication and translation of Theorizing Colonial Cinema: Reframing Production, Circulation, and Consumption of Film in Asia (2023 Best Collected Volume Award from The Society for Cinema and Media Studies) as a point of departure, the conversation navigates possibilities and challenges of queering or decolonizing colonial archives toward ends for which they were never intended.
