Ever wondered what a think tanks is, what they do, and if they might be a good fit for your career interests? Join us to learn more about what it is like to work at a think tank from Libby Doyle, current Duke MPP student and former research analyst with the Urban Institute, and Emilia Sotolongo, a senior technical assistance analyst at Child Trends.

Libby Doyle is an MPP student here at the Sanford School of Public Policy. Libby has spent the past year as a research fellow with the City of Durham's HEART program, which sends teams of trained mental health professionals to select 911 calls. Prior to Duke, Libby worked for the Urban Institute's Justice Policy Center as a research analyst where she conducted mixed-methods research on reentry and diversion programs that provide behavioral health and housing resources for justice-involved people. Libby is passionate about improving access to housing and reducing homelessness through data-driven policy solutions. Libby holds a B.A. in Political Science and Public Policy from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.

Emilia Sotolongo is a Senior Technical Assistance Analyst at Child Trends. In this capacity she manages projects, conducts program evaluation and policy analysis, analyzes qualitative data, and conducts interviews and focus groups with stakeholders. Emilia's primary research interests include child & family well-being, child welfare, immigrant and refugee youth adjustment, and the intersection of poverty and community well-being. Prior to working at Child Trends, Emilia worked as a Senior Research Aide for Duke University in the Center for Child and Family Policy, and as a middle school ESL teacher in Durham Public Schools. She holds a BA in Education from Elon University and a MAEd in Reading Education from East Carolina University
