Image Rights and Permissions for Authors
Bring your copyright questions and permission conundrums to this event with Kate Dickson, JD, Duke's own Copyright Librarian. Kate will review the current legal landscape that affects use of copyrighted images and answer questions such as: Is an image protected by copyright in the first place? How might fair use support the reproduction of a copyrighted image, and what are the risk and cost factors to be balanced? What are the components of an effective permission request? When is it appropriate to pay a commercial agency, museum, or archive for use of an image? What factors should be taken into account when mining large numbers of images for research purposes?
This event counts for 200 RCR credit for faculty and 714 RCR credit for graduate students.
Lunch will be served. Register at https://duke.is/c/3du3.
