Melancholy Pilates
The title is intentionally cheeky but I mean it: what if you moved with feelings of sadness / not against it / not trying to transform it? Melancholy Pilates is a series of horizontal moves, performed on a yoga mat, to sad songs. We'll begin and end with guided visualizations and breathing exercises. The bulk of class will be strengthening and lengthening exercises-that's right! pilates!-while we focus on staying with our body and with sensation while in motion.
Wear clothes you feel comfortable moving in. No pilates experience necessary. Sadness at some point in your life is a prerequisite.
