Fleeting Control: Water and Fire in the Nineteenth Century Metropolis
Jan Hua-Henning specializes in the history of risk and technology. He has published in the flagship journal for the history of technology, "Technology & Culture," and with the research group KRITIS on critical infrastructure. Dr. Hua-Henning's current research project examines the origins of emergency response in Germany and the United States. His research analyzes how technologies materialize the norms and values that guide societies' response to risk. At DKU, his teaching interests include Global Challenges in Science, Technology, and Health, and All Around Us: Technology, Infrastructure, and History. He also leads a research project Global Histories of Risk (GLOHRI). Dr. Hua-Henning earned his PhD in the History and Philosophy of Science and Technology from the University of Toronto, Canada.
