Treating Migraines Without Drugs

Migraine headaches affect millions of people. Migraines tend to affect mostly adults between the ages of 20 and 50, but many children get migraine headaches, and migraines can persist throughout a person's life. In the 1990s, triptan medications became available by prescription; these medicines are highly effective at stopping migraines in their tracks for many migraine sufferers. Not everyone, however, benefits from triptans, which are only effective at stopping migraines but do not help prevent them. Fortunately, there is a wide range of options to help treat and prevent migraines that do not involve medications. Please join Dr. Remy Coeytaux for a presentation and discussion about nonpharmacological approaches to treating and preventing migraine headaches. Dr.Coeytaux is a family physician and clinical epidemiologist who has published several scientific papers on the treatment of headache disorders. He has coauthored the chapter on Migraine and Tension-Type Headache for the 3 editions of the textbook, Integrative Medicine. Dr. Coeytaux joins Duke Integrative Medicine as a Bravewell Fellow.Pre-registration is required and seats are limited. Contact 416-DUKE(3853.)
