Fuqua's Health Sector Management - Symposia 2012 - Data-Mining Hospital Records for Clinical Trial Participants

Pfizer, J&J, Merck and others, supported by Quintiles and Oracle, are collaborating with 13 New York hospitals to access patient records to find clinical trial participants. Duke has established its own system for this same purpose. Fuqua's HSM program presents a panel of industry experts, scholars and Fuqua faculty discussing how these programs work, what the potential benefits to clinical research and patient care are and the ethical issues and implications for informed consent and patient privacy.
