A Women¿s Studies Undergraduate Event

Last spring, a group of Duke University students in Professor Rachel Seidman¿s course Women in the Public Sphere (WST 185S) decided to fulfill the requirements for a group project by asking their peers on campus, "Who Needs Feminism?" To their surprise, the world answered them. The project¿s Tumblr blog has received more than 100,000 visits from 144 countries and 17,000 people have "liked" their page on Facebook. The Program in Women¿s Studies is hosting a public conversation ¿Who Needs Feminism? Reflecting and Continuing" for people who want to know more. Professor Rachel Seidman and some of the original participants will discuss the story of the project, the public reaction to it, and how the project can develop and continue. ¿Who Needs Feminism? Reflecting and Continuing¿ will take place on Thursday, September 20th from 7:30-9:00 pm in the East Duke Parlors. Anyone interested is welcome. Refreshments provided.
