Join the Duke Women's Center and the Baldwin Scholars for a lunchtime talk with Ikal Angelei, 2012 Goldman Prize recipient. Her organization, Friends of Lake Turkana, convinced major banks, including the World Bank, to withdraw financing for the Gibe 3 Dam. Lunch provided. With power and purpose, she believes, "The Kenyan government must do more to protect the interests of the peoples of northwest Kenya, and the ecosystems that they depend upon...The members of parliament representing Northern Kenya need to know what is planned, and have a chance to voice their communities concerns. The peoples of Lake Turkana must be heard."
