Dr. Gersing serves as the Director on Clinical Information Systems in the Department of Psychiatry at Duke University Medical System. He is the primary designer, and domain expert behind the validated single source electronic health record and electronic capture system, MindLinc, electronic medical decision support software Clinical Coordinator and the patient survey system. His technical background includes 15 years of experience in medical information systems including the creation of multiple software applications at the University of Washington Medical School, the NLM at the NIH and at Duke University Medical Center. Before becoming a physician Dr. Gersing worked in the software business including Microsoft, and Watts/Silverstein a software and audio/visual production house. Dr Gersing is assistant professor of psychiatry Duke University Medical Center with primary concentrations of in geriatric depression, mild cognitive impairment and dementia Dr. Blazer is former Dean of Medical Education and currently J.P. Gibbons Professor of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences and Vice Chair for Faculty Affairs at Duke. He is a Professor of Community and Family Medicine. He also serves as Adjunct Professor in the Department of Epidemiology, School of Public Health, University of North Carolina. He received his MD degree from the University of Tennessee and his MPH and PhD degrees from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
