Ideas & Conversations: Evenings with Graduate Liberal Studies

These days we hear the work "digital" so often that some are inclined to tune it out. But digital technologies are transformative, particularly for scholarship. Dr. Bruzelius, Anne M. Cogan Professor of Art, Art History, and Visual Studies, will present some of the ways in which digital tools have transformed the teaching and research of a group of Duke faculty who work on the history of cities, buildings, and works of art.Dr. Bruzelius will show how working with digital tools has permitted them to teach in new ways, ask new questions of evidence, and reach outside the university by presenting scholarship to the public in new and engaging ways.Dr. Bruzelius was among 220 scholars across the nation chosen in 2012 to join the American Academy of Arts & Sciences. She holds a PhD from Yale and has taught at Duke since 1985. She is the author of "The Stones of Naples: Church Building in the Angevin Kingdom, 1266-1343 (Yale University Press, 2004).
