DISC would like to invite you to a discussion over FREE PIZZA to explore starting a Islamic & Middle Eastern Studies Undergraduate Council. We're interested in hearing your ideas about things we could provide that would enhance your undergraduate experience. We hope a group like this could provide a community for ongoing student engagement, professional development and career planning activities, social interaction, and development of leadership & administrative skills.This undergraduate council will be a student-driven initiative and so it will have the opportunity to taken on whatever initiatives it chooses. However, DISC envisions this group will organize various professional/academic activities including:Networking Nights: Learning about internships, research opportunities, and other topics of interestCareer Exploration: bringing in speakers/alumni to discuss how to translate your Islamic/Middle East language & culture knowledge into job opportunitiesSocial activities -- films, informal dinners with faculty or other activities of interest to youDISC can provide you with administrative help for activities--what we need are your ideas and your help with publicity and outreach. So we invite you all to come share your ideas.
