Cabaret Warsaw Live!
Sponsor(s): Slavic and Eurasian Studies
Cost: $10
World music band Mappamundi performs the great songs featured on the brand new CD CABARET WARSAW. These swing numbers, tangos, ballads, and folk songs were hits in Warsaw's Polish-language and Yiddish-language cabarets between the world wars, a period when Jewishand Gentile composers and performers collaborated and competed with each other to make beautiful music. Join Mappamundi for a night on the town as they sing about crazy love, sex appeal, and klezmer musicians whomade it big in America. This concert is made possible in part by a Collaborative Development Grant from the Council for the Arts, Office of the Provost, Duke University.
