Lunch provided at NOONTalk begins at 12:15PMNita Farahany, JD, PhD will focus on the emerging and recent uses of cognitive neuroscience for detecting and decoding memories, thoughts, and visual imagery in the brain. She will explore the social, ethical and legal issues that arise from uses of neuroscience by individuals--for cognitive enhancement or memory dampening; commercial actions--for applications including neuromarketing; and by governments--to detect or manipulate society. Bridging concepts of responsibility and liberty, Professor Farahany will look at a new concept of ¿cognitive liberty¿ and its implications for the use of emerging neuroscience in society.
