The U.S. has an estimated 1,000 - 1,200 military bases all over the world. Last year alone, the U.S. tripled its arms sales, hitting a record high and cornering almost 80% of the global arms trade. Our country accounts for almost half of the world's total military expenditures, while special ops forces alone complete 70 missions on an average day, operating in 60% of the world's countries.What does U.S. militarism look like on the global stage? What is the truth behind the supposedly waning wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, and the undeclared conflicts all across the Greater Middle East? Who benefits?Join Duke Students for a Democratic Society (SDS) on Thursday, November 1 at Duke Coffeehouse for a presentation and discussion on these and other issues.
