Workshop Day 1: Finding Consciousness

Event Image
Thursday, January 24, 2013
9:00 am - 5:00 pm

Neuroscientists have recently developed ways to detect consciousness in patients with severe brain injury who show little or no outward sign of consciousness. These new methods raise a host of questions for scientists, philosophers, lawyers, ethicists and medical practitioners. This workshop is made possible by generous support from the Department of Bioethics at the NIH Clinical Center, Duke Philosophy Department, Duke Institute for Brain Sciences, Kenan Institute for Ethics, Oak Ridge Associated Universities, and the Trent Center for Bioethics, Humanities & History of Medicine.
