Meditation is something that no one can do for you. You have to do it for yourself.Long a key component of faith and spiritual traditions, meditation has over the past 30 years or so, emerged as a topic of extraordinary interest in Western medicine and psychology. This talk will introduce participants to key concepts related tomeditation and health, and specifi cally to mindfulness.Mindfulness is a natural human capacity for present-moment centered awareness, and like other human capacities, mindfulness can be explicitly cultivated and practiced using a variety of meditation methods. The presentation will include reference to some exciting current scientific findings related to mindfulness and participants will have the opportunity for a direct experience of mindfulness throughbrief practice sessions during the presentation.
