Friday, March 1, 2013, 8PM, the Ark Dance Studio, Duke University East Campus - World Music & Dance Celebration with Porangui McGrew and Friends. Part of the Across the Threshold Interdisciplinary Conference, this performance is open to the public. The last time Porangui was here, he and his group raised the roof and spirits to new heights. No one could sit by while these grooves were happening. You won't want to miss it! Reared among the three cultures of Brazil, Mexico and the U.S., Poranguí was steeped in various traditional forms of music, healing and ceremony since birth. Drawing from his cross-cultural background and ethnomusicology training at Duke University, Poranguí has over twelve years of international work experience as an artist, educator, filmmaker, consultant and therapist, utilizing the healing properties of sound and movement to foster our individual and collective well being. http://www.porangui.comAdmission: ATT registrants admitted freely.
