Rebuilding disturbed landscapes: Landform evolution modelling at annual to millennial time scalesComputer based landscape evolution models simulate catchment wide erosion and deposition at times scales ranging from a single storm event to geological time. These models are cellular and use a digital elevation model to represent the landscape. Initially developed for research purposes, they have now advanced to the point where they are now being used to understand landscape behaviour in mining environments where reliable predictions are required. This presentation will outline landscape evolution models and demonstrate their application in a range of settings. Model calibration and validation as well as future challenges will be examined. http://www.newcastle.edu.au/profile/greg-hancock
