Abstract Writing Workshop
Society for the Advancement of Hispanics/Chicanos and Native Americans in Science (SACNAS) will be hosting an Abstract Writing Workshop. The event will be held at the Biological Sciences Building Room 144. Although abstracts are relatively short, they are of great importance in the scientific community as they are what decision makers use to determine whether you will be selected to present at a national forum or if your manuscript will be reviewed by a journal. Because graduate students receive little formal training in abstract writing, Duke-SACNAS has teamed up with Dr. Julie Reynolds to offer an Abstract Writing Workshop. This workshop aims to dispel abstract writing misconceptions and provide participants with tools necessary for crafting a successful abstract. During the workshop, concepts discussed by Dr. Julie Reynolds will be practiced through the editing of sample abstracts. Though not required, students should feel free to bring their own abstracts for the editing portion of the workshop (bring 3 hard copies)! Seating for this workshop is limited to 30 students, so please RSVP as soon as possible and no later than Friday, March 13th. RSVP Link: https://duke.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_6m3oyJ6042Ju6iN
