Memories of Love, Death, and Disaster in the Philippines
Dr. Bond is interested in the language that people use and the affect they experience when describing memories of traumatic events, such as the violent deaths of loved ones and natural disasters. His work has explored these issues in many settings with diverse populations, including prisoners, law enforcement, and in cross-cultural research in the Philippines. He uses cognitive psychological principles to understand implicit linguistic dimensions of memory descriptions, along with specialized software to measure the psychological dimensions of language.
