Open Forum of the Advisory Committee on Investment Responsibility (ACIR) and the Duke Campus Sustainability Committee (CSC)

The ACIR advises President Brodhead with respect to social responsibility issues related to the University¿s Endowment. In the recent past, ACIR has made recommendations bearing on "conflict minerals," Darfur, fossil Fuels and transparency of endowment holdings. The Committee's reports can be found at the "documents" portal on the ACIR website: http://spotlight.duke.edu/acirforum/about

The CSC, a presidentially appointed committee, is responsible for making recommendations to guide campus sustainability policies, championing these sustainability initiatives and communicating them to each member's respective constituencies to foster a more sustainable campus community. It was formed eight years ago to develop Duke's Climate Action Plan (CAP) to achieve carbon neutrality and has evolved to developing a broader Sustainability Strategic Plan (SSP) focusing on other key campus sustainability topics such as water, waste and natural resources. The CSC focus for the 2015-16 academic year is on procurement and sustainable investment. 2015 SSP Progress Report http://sustainability.duke.edu/2015/

The CSC and ACIR are convening an open forum and invite faculty, staff, graduate and undergraduate students to attend to learn more about the committees' work and to share your suggestions for how we might continue to fulfill our joint mission of sustainability and social responsibility.
