Lecture on Michelangelo's Last Pietà

Duke Initiatives in Theology and Arts, along with sponsorship from the Art, Art History, and Visual Studies Department at Duke, will bring art history scholar Anna Marazuela Kim to Duke Divinity School for an evening lecture. Kim is a Ph.D. candidate and an associate fellow at the Institute for Advanced Studies in Culture at the University of Virginia. Her work, combining a strong background in philosophy, history, classics, and the arts, cultivates rich conversation in fields of image theory and aesthetics. She is currently focusing on research, writing, and exhibition projects exploring the phenomenon of iconoclasm.The lecture will be entitled "Sculpture, Iconoclasm and Re-formations of the Spirit: Phenomenological and Theological Reflections on Michelangelo's Last Pietà." It will be held at 5:15 PM in room 0012 Westbrook of the Divinity School, and followed by an audience Q&A.
