Thank you!Public Seed-Saving Workshop with Local Expert Doug JonesDuke Campus Farm: 4934 Friends School Road, Durham NC 27705 The Duke Campus Farm will host farmer Doug Jones for a primer on seed saving. Saving seeds is an integral piece of sustainable agriculture: selective seed-saving preserves crop diversity and improves yields while contributing to farming systems that are economically and ecologically sustainable. Whether you're an apartment-porch gardener or veteran greenthumb, you are welcome to participate in this hands-on workshop.Topics covered will include:- Hands-on demonstration of simple seed saving- Basic botany useful for seed saving at small-farming and home scales- How to improve and adapt varieties to local conditions- Participants will take home a few seeds for use in their own gardens ***The farm will provide a few snacks to keep you going, and we encourage participants to bring a favorite snack to share if you desire!***
