Philippe Forest: Roundtable on 'The French Novel Today'

Philippe Forest will conduct a roundtable discussion in French on the state of the French Contemporary Novel. Prof. Forest has taught French literature in several British universities, including St Andrews, Cambridge and London, and is now Professor at the University of Nantes. He is the author of several studies on the history of literary and artistic avant-gardes from surrealism to structuralism, especially a book on Tel Quel, an monograph on Joyce, and a series of essays on Japanese literature. He is also the author of six novels published by the Editions Gallimard. His works have been widely translated. Sarinagara (Prix Décembre 2004) is his only novel translated into English thus far (Mercury House, 2009). Later in the day he will deliver a lecture in English 'On Autofiction', at 6:00 PM in The Garage, Smith Warehouse.
