Where DNA Succeeds & Eyewitness Identification Fails

Criminal courts have often relied on eyewitness testimony for convictions¿even though over thirty years of science has demonstrated its unreliability. Prof. Coleman will share the research, how courts have ignored the findings, and how his analysis of DNA exonerations has convinced some courts to revisit how to assess eyewitness testimony. --- Professor Coleman teaches criminal law, wrongful convictions, and appellate litigation. He is the John S. Bradway Professor of the Practice of Law, Director of the Center for Criminal Justice and Professional Responsibility, and Co-Director of the Wrongful Convictions Clinic at Duke Law School.
