Event Image
Monday, April 04, 2016
10:00 am - 11:30 am
Cornelis Jacobs

Cornelis Jacobs, Co-Founder of Storytegic, Amsterdam, The Netherlands; Art Director, News Exchange, European Broadcasting Union, will share insights from redesigning one of the most iconic logos in the world. The Eurovision Song Contest is one of the longest running television shows in the world, with on average an audience of 200 million viewers. It has become Europe's favorite TV show. Last year Eurovision decided the time had come to redesign the iconic Eurovision Song Contest logo, preparing it for the next decade. After a pitch among several agencies across Europe, the logo revision was eventually conducted by lead designer Cornelis Jacobs and his team. The objective was clear, the Eurovision Song Contest logo would need to reflect the event's values and its traits and communicate the excitement, the entertainment value and, most of all, the sense of coming together. In his talk, Cornelis will discuss the real role of design. How (and why) should everyone be thinking like a designer? He will also provide insight in the process from research to creative brief and ultimately the realization (logo, brand design.)
