Duke Asia-Pacific (AP) Forum

This semester's AP Forums feature recipients of the APSI Summer Research Grants who conducted research relevant to East or Southeast Asia last summer. Presentations will last 20-25 minutes each with room for discussion at the end. Audience members are highly encouraged to posit questions and engage with speakers during the Q&A.

The registration link includes talks for all three forums during the semester; you may register to attend multiple forums. This specific forum features the following presenters:

***October 29th***

SaeHim Park (Duke Art, Art History and Visual Studies)
"Intimate Infrastructure of Empire: Photographic Postcards of Japanese Female Sex-Trafficking in Southeast Asia, 1870s-1920s"

Harunobu Saijo (Duke Political Science)
"Appeal to a Higher Power: How Settlement and Inter-Ethnic Competition Shapes State Capacity"
