fury is an exploration of women's anger - so often dismissed, diminished or demonized - as a righteous tool for healing a broken world. Created in collaboration with Duke students, the piece will weave together ancient myth, recent and current events, and the writings and reflections of the devising company. The result will be a communal theatrical ritual where women's rage can be honored, reclaimed and reshaped.

Auditions will consist of short readings from the script along with group movement work. Please come dressed in clothing that will allow you to move freely.

It is only necessary to attend one night of auditions, but you are welcome to come to both if you'd like an extra chance to show what you've got!

The script will be tailored to the ensemble created from these auditions, and those performers will be active collaborators in continuing to refine the piece throughout rehearsals. Don't miss this unique opportunity to take part in the creation of a brand-new piece of theater!

Available roles:

the furies (she/they): A coven out for righteous revenge. Through a series of rituals, they reclaim their rage, ultimately taking on the personas of monster-goddesses including Medusa, Kali, Lilith, and others.

the men (he/him): One or more men who threaten to disrupt the ritual but ultimately become its scapegoats.
