Do Lunch with Anita Sarkeesian

Feminist critic Anita Sarkeesian's clarity during GamerGate and after have made us more reflective but have also garnered her death threats and ongoing harassment. With a powerful mix of intellectual insight and striking courage, Sarkeesian illuminates how the virtual becomes the real. She brings a critic's eye to the video game industry and shows how sexism in popular culture has repercussions in everyday life and politics. Come ready with questions about gender, popular culture, media, and virtual reality. We'll supply lunch from Happy and Hale.
The lunch will take place on January 31st, at noon, in 101 West Duke. Space is limited, so please rsvp to mari.jorstad@duke.edu, and include any dietary restrictions. Please note that Do Lunches are open to undergraduate students only.
