ONLINE Disability Pride Week
Disability Pride Week is online this week! Follow @DukeDisabilityAlliance on Facebook to get the most updates on events going on virtually this week. This is the opportunity to showcase what it means to have a disability and how being disabled can equate to being your identity, which is something to celebrate and be proud of.
This week, we have blogs going up discussing different Disability Advocates who are making a difference, as well as focusing some issues related to disability and COVID-19.
Here are is the schedule of events:
April 6: Feature series about Rodney Evans.
April 7: Feature series about Axis.
April 8: The release of the Disability Pride Student Expo Website release at sites.duke.edu/disabilitypride2020. There is also a feature series on Louis Braille.
April 9: Accessibility Matters Day! Since we are in quarantine, this is an opportunity to see how accessible your home is and see if you can take accessible paths indoors and outdoors. Post inaccessible points on social media with the #accessibilitymatters. This is also a time to reflect on how COVID-19 is affecting the disability community, so post as well about accessibility in terms of access to healthcare during this time. We also have a feature series about Jim Sinclair.
April 10: We have a feature series about Lisa Fittipaldi.
April 11: Final feature series called "Squirmy and Grubs: The Interabled Couple."
