Monday, February 19, 2018
12:00 pm - 1:00 pm
Ilan Lopez

Ilan Lopez, a former Israeli soldier in the Humanitarian and Civil Affairs Unit (aka COGAT), will be speaking with students during a luncheon on February 19. Topics he will be discussing include the importance of the US-Israel relationship and why all of us, liberals and conservatives and Democrats and Republicans alike, should seek a stronger US-Israel relationship. Additionally, Ilan, whose father is a Christian Venezuelan and mother is the daughter of a Holocaust refugee, will be sharing insights from his lifetime commitment to working towards coexistence. Before moving to Israel from Venezuela in 2010, Ilan was involved in numerous projects inside and outside of the Venezuelan Jewish community. After moving to Israel and upon entering the IDF (Israel Defense Forces), Ilan worked with Palestinian civilians and representatives in projects designed to improve the lives of Palestinian families. Today, Ilan directs the Latin American department of the pro-Israel advocacy group StandWithUs.
