The Human Condition: A Theological Perspective

What does it mean to be human? Genesis says that we are made in God's image, but what is that "imago dei"? How does our inviolable human dignity square with our sinful wills and our vulnerable bodies? And what is God calling us to be and do today as his representatives on earth?

In this six-week short course, open to undergraduate and graduate students, we'll explore these questions through a selection of short readings from scripture, theology, philosophy, poetry, and art. Seminar discussions will be led by professors of literature, art history, and theology.
