Duke University Libraries
Brown Bag Series

Following the 2018 founding of the Asian American & Diaspora Studies (AADS) program, the only program of its kind in the American Southeast, Duke is now a central site of research for local scholars working in this field. This also means that Duke's holdings in the Asian American Collection are a critical part of local research support.

What range of materials are preserved in the Duke University library's collections to support this program? How are Duke University librarians and archivists working to collect, preserve, and showcase Asian American experiences and histories? How do Duke's current holdings in this area allow for research that cuts across historical and disciplinary boundaries? What collaborations might be possible to further develop collections and academic programs on campus?

In order to showcase this current research potential, Duke Libraries will hold a hands-on session with several key items in the Asian American Collection, followed by a discussion of the state of the collection as a whole. Please join AADS faculty, DUL subject librarians, and archivists and curators from Rubenstein Library as we explore the existing collection and hear from faculty about their interactions with the range of materials.

Snacks will be provided at the event.
