Kinship Trouble: The Equality / Difference Debates : NC, USA, France, Europe

In this political season, as we enter yet another phase in the debates around marriage equality, kinship, and the recognition of same sex families, the Women's Studies Program and the Center for French & Francophone Studies are hosting a workshop on the topic. Panels comparing the implications of these debates in various countries marked by distinct legal and political traditions. Given the ¿Mariage pour tous¿ legislation enacted in France last year, and North Carolina's Marriage Amendment, focus on France/USA ¿ including specifically local Carolinian issues. Panelists include critics in the social sciences and humanities lawyers, and activists, coming from the area, as well as France.
