Jonathan Crary will present some of his ongoing work on problems of vision, history and temporality in Turner's work. His talk will examine the significance of Turner's anomalous and often aberrant relation to influential accounts of 19th century art and visual modernism, and will explore ways in which his art might be engaged through its "untimeliness."
